Overview

Machu Picchu…It enriches one´s perspective on who we are as human beings. Machu Picchu, the lost city of the Incas, where the last emperors, priests and priestesses took refuge and where the empire survived for 40 years after the arrival of the Spaniards. Secret and mysterious citadel from the time of Pachacutec Inca Yupanqui (IX-Inca`s Dinasty) emperor, his constructor. Then apparently its existence was even well-known only by the authorities and the priests of the Tawantinsuyo “The four lands of the empire”. Machupicchu prodigy of architecture of aesthetic recklessness and by the magestic and harmony of its forms, by the impeccable organization of its terraces, stairs, buildings, patios, passages that are set up in this nest of condors, surrounded by mountains, between the mountain range and the forest like but the extraordinary constructive feat of the pre-Hispanic man.
Experience Peru and discover a wealth of different worlds, all with their own individual landscapes, sounds, colors and tastes; travel back in time to ancient civilizations and share the great cultural heritage of the Peruvian people. Many destinations and experiences such as Peru’s coast and mountains can only be explained by seeing them in the flesh. The beating heart of its roots and destinations.
Caral, the first civilization in the Americas; pre-hispanic cultures; the Inca Empire; the fusion between the Inca and hispanic worlds; Peru and its Western, East Asian and African influences; deserts, mountains, forests, the Amazon and the sea; flora, fauna and a wide variety of cultural expressions. Peru is all of this.

  • PERU. The Magical Land of the Inkas. Peruvian geography diverse, ancient and natural. The Incas created an incredible civilization that learned how to tame the geography of Peru, -they conquered the high mountains and found a door to a new existence. The economy was based on agriculture. The Inca built a vast network of roads throughout this empire. It comprised two north-south roads, one running along the coast for about 2,250 miles (3,600 km), the other inland along the Andes for a comparable distance, with many interconnecting links. Many short rock tunnels and vine-supported suspension bridges were constructed. They lived in a small communities called -Ayllus, Architecture was the most important of the Incan arts, with textiles reflecting architectural motifs. The most notable example is Machu Picchu, This ancient society lived in harmony with the rivers, the sun, the rain, the ocean, the jungle, the Peruvian mountains and the cold dryness of the Andes, consequently adapting to the weather, their surroundings and surviving thanks to Mother Earth’s gifts. It is known that the Incas were not a barbarian or cruel people like many empires, rather they were a well organized state, that governed their coexistence by a spirit of cooperation, reciprosity and collective work. Part of this ancient society still lives today in each town and can be seen through the customs of the people. A trip to Peru takes you back in time and allows you to rediscover the exciting lives of the Incas, Chancas, Chachapoyas, Mochicas, and Wari, as well as their great works of art, their feasts, the roots of their social strength and the energy of their people.

Trekking in this area takes you into the remote and rarely visited region near Pisac. The Lares Valley with the spectacular backdrop of the Urubamba Mountains. The Urubamba range lies to east of the Sacred Valley. It stretches for 30km, and has several snow-capped peaks, the best know of which is Veronica Mt (5,750m), the most prominent snow peak that can be seen from the Machu Picchu train. The Urubamba range in its entirety is seen at its best from the road between Cusco and Urubamba. The Area offers moderately strenuous trekking, though small mountain villages, crossing passes of over 4,000 m with spectacular views of the surrounding snow-capped peaks of Pitusiray and Chicon. The trek, gives you the rare opportunity to see how the Quechua-speaking Indians of the high mountain villages live by farming potatoes and other crops, and herding llamas and alpacas on the inhospitable flanks of the towering peaks. The Lares Valley is particularly well know for its very high-quality, brightly coloured weavings and characteristic upturned hats, many of the popular tourist markets being supplied from here.
